tO TNI TAOS NtWS Thurs, May 18,1978 Que Pasa Garden club to meet Taos Garden Club will meet Tuesday May 23) at the home of Lois Hinton on High School Road at 2 p.m. Discussion will be on flowers that thrive in Taos' climate. All members and interested persons arc invited. Applications due Young men and women interested in applying for appointment to the Air Force, Army, Navy or Merchant Marine Academy class of 1983 should write Sen. Harrison Schmitt as soon as possible.

The address is Room 9017, Dennis Chavez Federal Building, 500 Gold Ave. SW, Albuquerque. Benefit dance set The Community Against Rape organization will be the beneficiary of a western dance Saturday (May 20) at The Godfather, formerly Ol' Martinez Hall, in Ranches de Taos. Recorded music will be provided. Admission is $1 per person.

Businesswomen gather Women in business will gather Suturday May 20) at the New Mexico Businesswomen's Conference at Albuquerque. Taos women interested in attending can contact Alyse Enyart at 758-2187 to arrange for car pool transportation. Barbara Proctor, president of Proctor and Gamble Advertising will address the conference which is expected to attract close to 600 businesswomen from throughout the state. 'Indian 9 to show The film "Indian" will be shown at 1:30 and 4 p.m. Saturday (May 20) at the new Taos Cinema.

The showings will benefit the building fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Tickets will be $2 for adults, $1 for children 12 and under. "Indian" is a contemporary documentary on American Indian life as seen through the eyes ol Raymond Tracey, a 23-year-old Navajo. The film was produced and directed by Keith Merrill. The associate producer was Howard Rainer of Taos Pueblo, who is assistant director of American Indian Services at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

Obituaries YUMA, Jose, 72 yrs. Passed away May 6, 1978 at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe. Mr. Yuma is survived by four sons, Jose Yuma, Jr.

from Kingsville, Texas, Sam, Dickie, and Larry from Taos. One daughter, Guillerma Segura from Taos. Fourteen grandchildren and one sister, Esther Mondragon. Rosary was recited Sunday and Monday 7:30 St. Martin Chapel.

Funeral Mass, Tuesday 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe and interment followed at the Dolores Cemetery. Father Luis Jaramillo officiating. Casket bearers were: Antonio Archuleta, Lawrence Santistevan, Olle Escarcida, Dennis Mondragon, Frank Montoya, and Daniel Cortez. Honorary: Alberto Gallegos, Margarito Anaya, Albert Rodriguez and Juan Valdez, Jimmy Santistevan, Eloy Esquibel, Fraternal Order of the EAGLES-Phillip Archuleta, Richard Tafoya, Frank Hammer, Pat Suazo, Jessie candelaria, Eulogy by Robert Segura.

Garcia Funeral Home in charge of funeral arrangements. ROMERO, Raymond 21 yrg. Died at his residence May 7, 1978. He is survived by his parents Mr. Mrs.

Candido Romero from Ranchos de Taos (Llano), one brother, Abad Romero sisters Pearl Martinez and husband. Erminio; Barbara Montgomery and husband, Pat: Santana Lopez and husband Ernie; and Debbie Romero. Two grandmothers, Mrs. Catalina Romero and Mrs. Lucia Valerio; a number of uncles aunts; several other relatives.

Rosary was recited Monday at the St. Francis Church in Ranchos 7.30 p.m. and Funeral Mass was held Tuesday 2 p.m. and interment followed at the Llano local cemetery. Father Michael O'Brien officiating.

Casket bearers were: Robert Fernandez. Ernie Lopez, Dale Romero. Erminio Martinez, Adolph Candelario, Pat Montgomery. Eulogy by: J.A. Maes.

Elbert (Mary) Harrison, Mrs. Santiago (Gloria) Cortez, Mr. Joseph Medina and wife, Sharon all of Denver, Colo. Jesse Medina and wife, Vickie, Antonette, Rosie, Virgil, Johnny, Angel Medina all of Questa. Dolores, Dora, Georgiana Cordova of Albuquerque, Raymond, Michael, and Allen Cordova of Questa.

He also leaves four brothers and one sister. Celestino Medina of Toole, Utah, Alfonso Medina of Salt Lake City, Utah, Epemenio Medina of Taos, Ricardo Medina of San Cristobal and Mary Martinez of Toole, Utah. 19 grandchildren, two great- grandchildren. Also, numerous nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Rosaries were recited at St.

Anthony Church in Questa by Los a nos de la Fraternidad de Nuestro Padre Jesus, St. Anthony Altar Society and Los Coloniales. Father Bernard H. Loughry said Mass on Thursday and interment followed at Questa Cemetery. Hymns were sang by Mr.

Mrs. Pat Martinez and Shirley Go nz ales. Pallbearers were his nephews David, Roger, Francisco, Eugene, Felix, Celestino Ricardo and Michael all surnamed Medina. Eulogy was said by Mr. Moses Sanchez.

Hanlon Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. STARQUIST, Selma A. Passed away at El Prado, New Mexico, May 11, 1978. Born in Higginum, March 7, 1887, she leaves one daughter, Virginia Starquist, El Prado, and several nieces and nephews in Connecticut and Massachusetts. Cremation took place at Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Services at Rose Hill Cemetery, Rocky Hill. Connecticut will be announced. MEDINA, AjftMto 0 Of Quests. New Mexico passed away on April 9, 1978. He is survived by his wife.
